Background: Busan Finance Center (BFC), in collaboration with the Korea Housing Finance Corporation (KHFC) and the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), is hosting an event in London to highlight developments and new policy initiatives in Busan, including investment opportunities. Hear from Dr Soongoo Ahn as he discusses BFC’s developments in maritime finance and the relocation of key maritime institutions to Busan. Representatives from KHFC and FSS will also provide overviews of their London operations, covering national housing guarantees and mortgage finance, as well as financial supervision, AML, and global regulatory cooperation.

Speakers:
Dr Soongoo Ahn is a director at the Busan Finance Center. He earned his doctoral degree from Bayes Business School, City University of London and holds an M.Sc. in Economics and Strategy from Imperial College London. Before his tenure at the Busan Finance Center, he led the Sustainable Finance Division at UN Global Compact Network Korea and taught international business as an assistant professor at Ulsan College University.
His expertise lies in strategic hub (platform) ecosystems, applying this knowledge across various finance fields, including sustainable finance, digital finance, and maritime finance. With this expertise, he has collaborated closely with Charles Baden-Fuller, a Centenary Professor at Bayes Business School, and Heesung Yun, a Distinguished Professor at Korea Maritime & Ocean University, to research the prospective ecosystem of the Busan Finance Center. He is a member of the Academy of Management, The Korea Port Economic Association, and The Korean Association of Financial Engineering.
Seonghoon Yoon Seonghoon Yoon is a Senior Analyst in Fixed Income and Investor Relations at the Korea Housing Finance Corporation, where he has served for over 16 years. His extensive experience spans multiple roles, including Senior Manager in the Construction Project Financing and Risk Management Departments, as well as Manager and Assistant Manager in the Securitization and Credit Guarantee Departments. Mr Yoon specializes in data analysis, bankruptcy prediction, risk management, and securitization, with a focus on mortgage-backed securities (MBS) and mortgage-backed bonds (MBB). His contributions include managing financial risks in securitization and corporate treasury, conducting stress tests, and calculating Value at Risk for portfolios exposed to interest rate fluctuations. Mr Yoon has also led international efforts, notably conducting a Manhattan roadshow to promote MBBs to Wall Street investors. His expertise in hedging interest rate risks and issuing MBS, combined with his due diligence in credit and construction financing, has solidified his reputation as a skilled financial professional dedicated to advancing Korea’s housing finance sector.
Hyunwoo You is a Senior Manager at the Financial Supervisory Service, South Korea’s integrated financial authority. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Yonsei University, Republic of Korea, and is currently pursuing a parttime Master’s in Finance at London Business School (LBS). A Korean Certified Public Accountant, Mr You has built his career in the public sector, specializing in financial regulation with a focus on insurance, nonbanking sectors, and accounting regulation. His expertise lies in navigating complex financial systems to support vulnerable groups, leveraging his skills to create positive societal impact. Mr You’s global outlook, shaped by his travels to over 30 countries, has honed his adaptability and ability to connect with diverse individuals. Before joining the Financial Supervisory Service, he spent time at A. T. Kearney and Credit Suisse.
