Speakers:

Prakash Seewoosunkur, is currently the Chief Operating Officer of the Financial Services Commission and has been called to assume the role of Officer-in-charge of the Commission on several occasions. He has joined the Commission in 2001 from the Mauritius Offshore Business Activities Authority (MOBAA). During his tenure, he has headed the Insurance and Pensions Clusters and has overseen numerous clusters. He has been instrumental in the digital transformation of the FSC and has been involved in the Blueprint and Risk-based supervision projects. He also chairs the committee that approves licences for financial activities. Awarded with the UK Commonwealth Scholarship, he holds a first-class honours degree and distinction in MSc. He also has an MBA in Financial Management. He has attended several courses and training programmes on accounting, finance, law, and project management. Mr Seewoosunkur is also an Executive Officer at the International Organisation of Pension Supervisors (IOPS) based at the seat of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) in Paris.

Vishwadeo Seebaluck, Senior Manager at Financial Services Commission, Mauritius, currently oversees the Investment Funds Cluster at the Commission. During his career span, he has been, through different functions, involved in the licensing, supervision and compliance related matters for different types of funds and intermediaries (investment managers, asset managers, custodians, fund administrators, amongst others). He holds a BSc (Hons) Finance with Law, Commonwealth Executive MBA and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK).

Kamalsing Burun joined the FSC Mauritius as Assistant Director, Capital Markets in January 2019. He currently heads the Authorisation Directorate. Prior to joining the Commission, Kamal worked for a major international bank where he held various positions in Mauritius and in Hong Kong. He has served in local and regional tax advisory roles, has led the implementation of financial crime compliance and served as director of a number of investment companies and funds. Previously he worked in the UK as a tax adviser. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA, UK), a Chartered Tax Adviser (UK) and a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI, UK).”

Sateeta Jeewoolall, currently holds the position of Director at Apex Financial Services (Mauritius) Ltd. She is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Hons) from the University of Mauritius. Prior to joining Apex Financial Services (Mauritius) Ltd in September 2003, she was with PricewaterhouseCoopers (Mauritius) in the Audit and Assurance department. At Apex Financial Services (Mauritius) Ltd, she headed different teams responsible for administration and accounting of Private Equity Funds and global business companies for several years. In her present role at Apex, she continues to oversee client services teams, manage client relationships, be part of technical discussions during set ups and over the life of entities, and be involved in internal operations. Over the years, she has developed in-depth knowledge of the financial services sector coupled with practical know-how on the operations, regulatory and compliance aspects for global business entities. She sits on the Board of a number of global business companies and investment funds.

Mohit Ralhan, is the Group ceo of TIW Capital. He has more than 2 decades of experience in Fund Management and investment like listed securities, fixed return, buyouts, margin expansion & turn-around situations, machine learning and artificial intelligence-based investment strategies. Mr. Ralhan has served as the chairman of investment committee of multiple funds and has seen multiple recessionary environments. In a career spanning two decades he has invested and served on boards across multiple sectors. Mr. Ralhan is an industry veteran and a regular speaker and moderator in various industry forums across the globe. He received many accolades during his career.

❖ Mr. Mohit Ralhan has been conferred the Distinguished Fellowship at the annual convention of Institute of Directors at the House of Lords, London in 2023.

❖ Awarded by the International Business Magazine, UAE as “Excellence in Product Innovation Singapore” for the year 2023.

❖ He has also been awarded by The Times Group as the “Most Promising Business Leaders of Asia” for the years 2019 & 2020.

Fazeel Soyfoo, is a Partner at Andersen in Mauritius. Fazeel is the holder of a BSc Accounting and Finance from the London School of Economics and is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales. He specialises in International Tax, Tax advisory and structuring. Prior to joining Andersen, Fazeel was a Director at Ocorian in Mauritius where he successfully set up and developed the tax advisory unit. Fazeel brings a wealth of experience through his time advising clients in the UK, particularly in relation to international tax and structuring. He started his career at PwC in London where he spent seven years focusing on tax advisory and compliance, before moving to Citigroup where he was in charge of the Business Tax Advisory unit for the bank’s securities and trade businesses in EMEA.
