The recent rapid rises in costs, the Covid-19 pandemic, and the tight labour market are providing challenges for many businesses. Key to overcoming such challenges is rebuilding a better relationship with employees. One way of doing that is by engaging your staff through Employee Share Ownership. Hosted by Michael Mainelli, Chairman, Esop Centre and Z/Yen Group, and Richard Burge, Chief Executive, London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), this webinar will will explain:

Speaker Petronella West will share her experience of setting up and running an EMI (Enterprise Management Incentive) scheme for Investment Quorum's employees.

She will be joined on the panel by tax expert Mark Petch. A Senior Associate at Macfarlanes, Mark advises on a broad range of corporate tax matters including employee incentive arrangements, and will be on hand to answer your more technical share scheme questions.

Speakers:

Petronella West is the CEO of Investment Quorum. She is a double-chartered, pension transfer specialist with an incredible 35 years’ experience in the financial services industry. At Investment Quorum, Petronella provides personalised financial planning and investment solutions, with a particular focus on retirement.

Her passion is in business financial planning, and she has a deep belief in cashflow modelling to help clients fulfil the life they want. Petronella says the fun starts when, based on the close relationship of trust, she can start solving what her client perceives as a problem. She was awarded Wealth Manager CEO of the Year at the City of London Wealth Manager Awards 2022.

Outside of IQ, Petronella is heavily involved in Charity work, specifically working with Sierra Leone-based charity, Street Child.

Mark Petch is a Senior Associate in Macfarlanes' Reward and Share Plans team with a focus on share plans and remuneration. Mark’s key areas of specialism include advising on bespoke private company remuneration structures as well as assisting management teams on their incentive arrangements.  He also advises on a number of tax-advantaged share plans as well as the establishment and implementation of employee benefit trusts.

Mark is a member of the Share Plan Lawyer’s Group which looks at incentive issues in practice and from a policy perspective. He has also spent time on secondment at Lloyds Development Capital advising in respect of tax and incentive arrangements across all acquisition and exit transactions undertaken during his time there.

Richard Burge has been the chief executive of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry since February 2020.

He has led four multi-million pound organisations as chief executive over a total of 18 years. They ranged from a famous charity to a UK government agency to a private company to a membership body. All of them were revenue-based operations delivering public benefits.

He has been on the Board and a non-executive chair/director of five multi-million pound operations including companies, charities, two government agencies, and a UK Russell Group university.

Richard has worked in over 55 countries, specialising in Africa, the wider Commonwealth, and post-conflict situations.
