2024 Economic Crime Summit – Identity, Fraud, Security
Forum

The 2024 Economic Crime Summit – Identity, Fraud, Security is being held jointly with the Cityforum.

Keynoted by the Lord Mayor Alderman Michael Mainelli, the agenda has been prepared with the assistance of Ian Dyson, former City of London Police Commissioner and Teresa Walsh, Global Head of Intelligence FS-ISAC. The agenda looks at safety through technology and through human resourcefulness.

Agenda:

Draft website agenda – Economic Crime – as at 05.04.24

The forum has four major themes:
  • Threats, perpetrators and vehicles – what do we now face?
  • Securing the citizen, business and government through a digital identity infrastructure
  • Fraud – closing doors to perpetrators and acting to protect victims
  • Building an efficient and safe digital financial system
The financial world is already in a period of acute danger as generative AI increases the scope for the fraudster, as well-intended efforts are made to increase the speed of financial settlements and as governments play an increasing role in the running of national economies.
The panelists will examine how government, businesses, regulators, professional services, the third sector and academe respond – both singularly and collectively – to problem areas requiring ingenuity, determination, and effective collaboration. Fraud and other threats are often seen just in pecuniary terms, but what now faces us amounts to a societal challenge that extends beyond the pocketbooks of those who are being defrauded.
